Through the support of the Circular Futures Lab initiative by the British Council in collaboration with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, Circulo was established as the pioneer Circular Design initiative to foster Circular Economy in the Philippines. This organization aims to support the movement of the country in transitioning to the circular economy by introducing circularity to the local community and presenting strategies on how the Philippines can adopt circular economic principles in addressing prevalent gaps in the system.

Cherrie started teaching farmers at the age of 12, has 23 years of vast experience in Sustainable Food Systems. At 20 years old, she was able to internationally publish her scientific work in Microtuber Production in Dioscorea alata L. Variety “VU-2” as affected by Growth Regulator, International Journal on Root Crops. Since then, she was recognized as a young scientist and keeps developing climate resilient agricultural technologies for smallholder farmers.
She is a thought leader and highly invited International speaker who champions the farmers and gender-equality in a male dominated industry. Globally multi-awarded like the Global Young Laureate Award in Peru in 2014, The Outstanding Students of the Philippines in 2007, The Outstanding Young Women in Nations Service (TOWNS) in 2018, The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) in 2018 and an Inspiring Filipina Entrepreneur. She received the first Women of the Future Social Entrepreneur Award in Southeast Asia, Most Influential Sustainability and Impact Leader in Asia List of Tatler Magazine, The Outstanding Farmer Entrepreneur in the Philippines; among others.
Cherrie is also one of the inaugural honorees of the 50 Next leaders by 50 Best and Basque Culinary Center – a list of exceptional young people from all over the world who are shaping the future of gastronomy. Cherrie started teaching farmers at the age of 12, has 23 years of vast experience in Sustainable Food Systems. At 20 years old, she was able to internationally publish her scientific work in Microtuber Production in Dioscorea alata L. Variety “VU-2” as affected by Growth Regulator, International Journal on Root Crops. Since then, she was recognized as a young scientist and keeps developing climate resilient agricultural technologies for smallholder farmers.
She is a thought leader and highly invited International speaker who champions the farmers and gender-equality in a male dominated industry. Globally multi-awarded like the Global Young Laureate Award in Peru in 2014, The Outstanding Students of the Philippines in 2007, The Outstanding Young Women in Nations Service (TOWNS) in 2018, The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) in 2018 and an Inspiring Filipina Entrepreneur. Cherrie D. Atilano is an agricultural scientist, agri-economist and environmental advocate.
Cherrie is a radical optimist and a dreamer who believes that Filipino farmers are world class.
She is the Founder and CEO of AGREA Agricultural Systems International, Inc., a for-purpose and inclusive business, that is creating the first replicable one-island economy that is zero hunger, zero waste, and zero insufficiency. AGREA works with 30,000 smallholder farmers in the Philippines.
She is a partner of a Singapore-based impact investment company TAEL Impact Fund that invests in impactful agribusinesses in Southeast Asia.
Cherrie started teaching farmers at the age of 12, has 23 years of vast experience in Sustainable Food Systems. At 20 years old, she was able to internationally publish her scientific work in Microtuber Production in Dioscorea alata L. Variety “VU-2” as affected by Growth Regulator, International Journal on Root Crops. Since then, she was recognized as a young scientist and keeps developing climate resilient agricultural technologies for smallholder farmers.
She is a thought leader and highly invited International speaker who champions the farmers and gender-equality in a male dominated industry. Globally multi-awarded like the Global Young Laureate Award in Peru in 2014, The Outstanding Students of the Philippines in 2007, The Outstanding Young Women in Nations Service (TOWNS) in 2018, The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) in 2018 and an Inspiring Filipina Entrepreneur. She received the first Women of the Future Social Entrepreneur Award in Southeast Asia, Most Influential Sustainability and Impact Leader in Asia List of Tatler Magazine, The Outstanding Farmer Entrepreneur in the Philippines; among others.
Cherrie is also one of the inaugural honorees of the 50 Next leaders by 50 Best and Basque Culinary Center – a list of exceptional young people from all over the world who are shaping the future of gastronomy. A recipient of the first Eco-Age The Renaissance Award on Environmental
Sustainability in 2021.
She is a High-Level Ambassador of UN Scaling Up Nutrition, Food Systems Champion of the United Nations, Global Shapers and currently a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum and Asia Society Young Leader.
She also serves on the board of several commercial and nonprofit organizations locally and globally such as Board Member of the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), Advisory Board Member of the World Bank Solutions for Youth Network, United People Global (UPG) with Graća Machel, wife of the late President Nelson Mandela, East – West Seed Company, several prestigious Universities in the Philippines, among others; and the Philippine Ambassador of Food Security.
In 2020, with her leadership in COVID-19 response for connecting farmers to consumers – she is named the Best Top Manager in post-pandemic economy of the APEC Best Award, and UN Women WEPs Award for COVID19 response.
She completed a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Magna Cum Laude, in Visayas State University, her Executive Education in Sustainable Food Systems and Systems Thinking in Wageningen University, Netherlands, and Stanford University’s Change Leadership for Sustainability Young Global Leaders Program in 2021. She finished her Executive Education Program on Global leadership and Public Policy for the 21st Century in Harvard Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachussets.

Fabien is the Country Director of the French International Non-Governmental Organization Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED) in the Philippines since 2020. Fabien heads the strategy and the operations of ACTED’s dual mandate in the Philippines with its humanitarian and development work. The 3Zero is a multi-stakeholder movement founded by ACTED and Gawad Kalinga in favor of the Global Goals of the United Nations and it stands for Zero Exclusion, Zero Carbon and Zero Poverty. The 3Zero Agenda includes a global alliance of stakeholders, a series of international forums and a concept of 3Zero Houses, a multiplier of innovations and solutions to support the ecological transition and the digital transformation.

Fabien took up a master degree in entrepreneurship back in France where he decided to bring his determination and skills to the Philippines to volunteer for a local poverty alleviation organization called Gawad Kalinga. He lived with a community of beneficiaries for six years to better understand the culture and the roots of poverty in the Philippines and worked with a diversity of partners to support the most vulnerable through livelihood, trainings and public private partnerships.
Fabien is an Ashoka ChangemakerXchange fellow and a Top 5 winner of the BPI Sinag Business Competition in the Philippines and has been featured in over a dozen a medias and newspapers. He has spoken at the World Entrepreneurship Forum, the World Forum for the Responsible Economy, the Global Forum Convergences and shared in experiences in many top universities across in more than 10 different countries.

Juhern Kim is the Country Representative, Philippines, of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) – a treaty-based inter-governmental organization. He is a sustainability expert with 15 years of experience, dedicated to helping the countries achieve the goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050 and UN’s sustainable development goals. He has a wide range of hands-on experience with the public and private sectors, in terms of injecting sustainability agenda into policy development, originating green investment projects, and mobilizing finance for them attracting public and private investors. Since 2012, as one of the founding staff of the GGGI, he has been serving several roles in emerging economies, including Colombia, Costa Rica, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the Philippines, where he led projects across key sectors including waste (circular economy), renewable energy, sustainable transport, climate resilient agriculture, and sustainable forest management. He was also tasked to lead a consultancy project for the operationalization of the Green Climate Fund (GCF)’s simplified approval process where he developed its technical guidelines. Prior to joining GGGI, he was a member of the UN’s first-ever Green Economy Initiative and the Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB). He has a significant stint at the SMEs and start-up space, via the initiative like Greenpreneurs, ASEM SMEs Eco-Innovation Center, Corporation 2020, and so on, supporting the private sector transition towards green economy. He has been mentoring several climate tech start-ups while taking a judging role for several business plan competitions. He completed the executive education at Yale School of Management (certificate), graduated from Yonsei Graduate School of International Studies and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
